Yes. They put it there so people will break their cars and buy another one. Its a trick. Do NOT use the plus and minus levers. They actually mean plus and minus cylinders. Every time you hit minus it turns off a cylinder to save gas, but really it breaks the motor after too many minuses. Turn off all cylinders and you're in trouble, buddy.
Just in case you really don't know, it's triptonic and just means you are able to change gears manually. Don't worry about ruining your car, the ecu will prevent you from damaging your engine or transmission for the most part. It's use is mainly for towing or mountainous areas.

You don't have a stick shift. You have an automatic car.
Ever driven another car where it says something like: P R D 3 2 1?
Park, reverse, drive, 3rd gear, 2nd gear, 1st gear
The + and - lever are really no different than putting another automatic car in 1, then 2, then 3, then back to 2, etc.
If you want to learn to drive stick shift, you need a car with a clutch (3rd pedal left of the brake). Automatic cars (like yours) has a torque converter (no clutch).
It's stuff like this that makes me wish there was a pre-screening process for potential drivers.
Geez people are mean to noobs here.
It's the marketing people's fault for questions like this. When they market cars as "auto-stick," etc, there's bound to be some confusion. Especially if this is the OP's first car with it.
But yeah, I did face-palm when I read it at first.

Just a downside of the internet.
But if you don't want to come across as mean, just answer the question seriously after the joke.
