Hey all,
2007 G35x with 66k miles on it. I've kept up with the regular maintenance intervals.
A few weeks ago, I was having a strange issue where my RPMs would hesitate around 1100rpms from a cold start. I solicited suggestions on here and, after searching around, people suggested the "easy" fix to try was the ECU upgrade. So I took it to the dealer and had the ECU upgraded on 10/14/14. I also had a radiator hose replaced.
The ECU upgrade appears to have fixed the issue--I haven't noticed it since.
However . . .
I've been driving it for about a week straight, and I've noticed a new problem. When I try to start it on a "warm start," it does this:

When the RPMs dip that low right at start, the car shutters just a bit (as if it is going to stall). It has not stalled yet, however. I would anticipate that this is just going to keep getting worse?
I searched around on the forums, and some have suggested this might be related to a dirty throttle body or perhaps a mass airflow sensor issue? Some also mentioned camshaft position sensors.
Anyway, the dealer is about 90 minutes away. I'm looking for a complete list of things I can clean / replace myself (or that you think the Nissan dealer is competent to do, since there IS one of those locally) . . . before I limp back to the dealer. This is getting frustrating.
Thanks for any help!

My car does the same thing sometimes on a warm start...I don't know...I haven't really bothered to find out the problem... I assumed it was cause of my exhaust modifications. It would be a good thing to know what causes this though.
Ahh, interesting. Mine is bone stock.
I only started looking into it because I sort of assumed that this would get worse and/or eventually lead to stalling. At least, that's what other threads seem to suggest.
How long has yours been doing this?

Mine does it too, but more like at idle such as at a stop light or even at a shirt stop sign stop, not necessarily on start. Cleaning the tb helps a little, but doesn't fix it. Sub'd for a solution, but as far as I understand its just something we gotta live with.
Of course mine hasn't ALWAYS done it, so there must be something to fix it.

Mine has been doing this really since I modified my exhaust. Maybe it did it before but I didn't notice. At at a red light the car sometimes fluctuates rpms too, going from 600 idle down to 500 and back up. I've never cleaned the TBs or had anything done at a dealer. Btw, my car is used with 83k on the clock.

when was the last time you replaced your battery. I had the same situation i dint need a ecu update just a new battery fixed it instantly.
I also cleaned out my mass air flow sensors.

Must have been the MAF cleaning. My battery is like 2 months old.Originally Posted by beto4632

I don't know whether anything on my car has ever been cleaned but I'm definitely going to clean the TBs and the MAF. I also have the original battery so I probably need to change that as well sometime. Maybe doing all of that will get rid of all the issues.

I will probably get the TB and MAF clean at a Nissan dealer during my next oil change just under 70k miles
