2007 G35 need new clutch/tranny job, worth it or new car?
DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT replace the clutch WITHOUT replacing the flywheel. You WILL regret it. You MUST start with a clean SMOOTH friction surface or your clutch plate will start to chatter and it will be all over. You have two choices, OEM (or equivalent dual mass flywheel), no chatter or you can get a light weight flywheel that will wake up your motor but will chatter at idle. I have had mine for three years and I don't even hear it now.

I also bought the JWT clutch kit, which included the clutch pressure plate, disk, lightweight flywheel, and pilot bearing. I added the braided clutch line, but can't say if it was needed (was only $30ish to add it). Where I think I went wrong was that I bought the Nissan OEM slave cylinder to replace the original one. I'm waiting for my mechanic to confirm, but I think that slave cylinder is now leaking, after only 5 months, and about 3k miles.
So, you should definitely replace your slave cylinder when replacing the clutch parts, but I think it's better to spend a bit extra to get either the ZSP2006 slave cylinder from Concept Z Parts, or the Centric 303.42001 (available from a number of sources, including Amazon). The ZSP2006 is currently $325, and the Centric is about $140. I don't know what other options are out there, but I really wish I would have gone with my gut and paid the few extra dollars for the Centric when I had the work done 5 months ago. Now I'm looking at another $350 in labor, plus the cost of the new part. Expensive mistake.

And so the new words of wisdom are... when replacing the clutch components, replace ALL of the clutch components. Seems both Concept Z and Nissan recommend replacing the master cylinder when replacing the slave.
I can tell that my master cylinder is sticking a bit, and so I haven't been driving the car until I buy and replace the master cylinder.
As far as working with the Concept Z folks, they seem to know what they are doing and thus I recommend going through them, where applicable.
