I just picked up an '08 G35X. I have only had it a few days and noticed a possible issue. The dealer replaced the battery just before I picked it up on Saturday. I drove it home with no issues. When I went out to move it, it fired up and the rpm's went up and then as they fell, the car stalled out. It did this twice yesterday. It does fine on cold starts but, if I turn it off after it is warm and go to restart, this is where it seems to have the issue. Not sure if this is a common issue, easy fix, or something related to the computer relearning everything due to the battery replacement? The car is under warranty and I'll certainly take it back if the issue persists.

Clean throttle bodies. Fixed in 5 mins.

Because of how our egr is setup carbon builds up on the hinges of the butterfly. It works fine when the choke is on (cold start), but doesn't get enough gas on a warm start to keep the butterfly open vs the sticky carbon.

 

Todd, if this is happening repeatedly (and repeatably), then I would definitely take it back and have it fixed. Even if it is something simple, it's better to have it covered by the selling dealer before it becomes your problem. The longer you wait, the less helpful they will be; I can practically guarantee you that. Also, if you start messing with it in hopes of performing a quick fix and it turns out to not be the cause, they may blame the original issue and any new ones on you.

 

Thanks for the input. I cleaned the tb's this morning and we'll see if that cures the issue. If not, I'll definitely take it to the dealer to sort out.

Well, I sincerely wish you well with that, but it was pretty much exactly what I was thinking you shouldn't try. It may indeed take care of it, but it can also lead to quite a few problems for people. (Look up "idle relearn failures" and such). Basically, if there's any problems with your drive-by-wire TB's, and the dealer knows you messed with them, they can blame it all on you. I've seen people get stuck with paying for new ones.

Yeah, probably so, but are you so sure that you'd be willing to step up and cover any costs that fall back to him a result?

 

That's an odd request, but I'm 99% sure that its just dirty throttle bodies.

 

Knock on wood but, the tb cleaning seems to have resolved my issues. I've driven the car all over the past 4 days and not a single stall or lower than normal rpm idle on startup.
