How to diagnose drive line slop?
Hey All,
I'm wondering if what I'm experiencing is drive line slop and wanted to get some feedback. If I'm coasting anywhere from 10 to 25 mph and press on the gas, I feel a "thud" from the back of the car. At first I though it was the torque converter but it feels like it's coming from the rear diff. I don't beat on the car, but was wondering if the rear diff bushings are a more common wear and tear item (I currently have 57k miles). I've seen a few threads on here about people needing to swap them out. Car in question is a 2008 G35x sedan.
Thanks,
Lew

Have you looked to see if there is a tell-tale rust colored stain on the rear subassembly from the bushing 'bleeding out'?
Also, it could be coming from any one of the driveshaft U-joints or its center bearing.
