07 G35X Sedan (Tech Package) Adaptive Headlights vs Non Adaptive Headlights
AFS Light Flashing after Non AFS light Install
A Grubhub driver backed into my car and took out my drivers headlight/fender. My insurance doesn't replace with OEM parts so part quote was only for non-afs lights. AFS OEM new light replacement cost exceeded pain threshold so purchased 2ea non-AFS lights to replace 2007 G35 Sedan 6MT headlights. Sure enough the AFS light flashing after install which was expected. There are two wiring connections that had no home on the non-AFS lights. After searching forums and internet I could never really find a full solution so decided to run some test. I was able to remove two components from the busted headlight and connected them to the 2 harness adapters that had no connection on the Non AFS lights. Plugged in the passenger undamaged light to the harness and tested. AFS blinking light was off. I went ahead and salvaged from both lights, wired them up, taped/waterproofed them, and secured them behind the inner wheel well cover. Test drove as some AFS actions require a certain speed and no issues or trouble codes so far. So basically just tricking the car into thinking the AFS components are still there. The other options I read about was removing the instrument and disabling the led light but didn't really want to go that route if I could help it. The two components was the ballast looking item sitting directly under the projector and the servo type motor that sits on the outside of the composite light housing.
For the future you can buy pretty much any used OEM component for a reasonable price on eBay, it's the worlds largest repository of used OEM car parts.
Still going to be like $300 for one of those adaptive headlights though.
