You may not be able to help me as my question is about an 09 FX35. I keep having my check engine light come on and the codes are P0021 & P0024. I have had the variable valve timing control solenoid bank 2 replaced and I still have the error. The last place I took it too said I needed to replace the variable timing control cover left bank AND the gasket. part # 13040-JK30B and 23797-JA10B. My question is why would the cover need to be replaced? or I guess - does the cover have to be replaced or can you just replace the gasket? I have read and read and read and I can't afford to replace a $500 part if it isn't mandatory . Do you have an opinion you would be willing to share?
