Starter issues

I was on my way out of town and stopped for a break. Upon coming back to my car, my car would not start. The lights and power windows work, but there is no click when the brake is depressed and start button is pushed. I looked at fusible links and they look fine. So I am guessing it is the starter or IPDM. Does anyone have insight on starter replacement cost or IPDM cost? Is there a place where I can get the parts cheaper rather than the dealership. Thanks, Calvin

Check the brake switch located above the pedal and the neutral switch. I don't know if the neutral switch is located by the shifter, or under the car, on the transmission, If either one of them is bad, you will not be able to energize the starter.

The brake lights come on. Does this rule out the brake switch? Or is the brake switch you are referring to solely for starting purposes? Thanks for your help.

2008 G35 Journey Sedan no sunroof
I just had my starter replaced at 89K miles on 2008 sedan (I make a lot of short trips) and cost was $400 parts $225 labor at independent shop (which uses OEM parts). Mine failed gradually, was just slower and slower to turn over. Figured it was battery so got free replacement at Costco (they don't test batteries to confirm they're bad, yay!!). But 99% sure it was starter only.

Your problem may be something simple like a starter relay, that was a common failure item on my last car (92 Q45). Not sure if that's an issue on G35.

I ended up getting it fixed at the Nissan dealership for $450 for the starter and $220 labor. I did notice that it was getting a little sluggish to start, and I replaced the battery since it was bad, but I didn't tell a big improvement. I have 194k miles, and within the past year I dropped a couple of grand for a new compressor, heater hoses, and now the starter. Now with the new starter, and can tell it starts a lot faster. Thanks for all the replies.
