Thumbs up 2007 G35x -- How reliable is it???

Hi All Fellow G35 users,
I got a pretty sweet offer in Jersey (at least that's how I think for now). The owner sells this 2007 G35X for $6100 at 97k miles. No accidents/salvage title were found on Carfax. Test drove it last Sunday, solid ride, no noise/strange sounds at bumps. The engine still sounds very good at starting.

For I have NEVER been an Infiniti/Nissan user before. What are the things that can go wrong after 100k miles, with your own experience? What is the typical maintenance cost per year to this 11 years old babe? If I buy it, most likely I will keep it for another few years at least. Thanks guys!

G35X
They're pretty solid. The VQ35HR motor is more reliable than the DE (reduced side loads, more durable rod bearings, etc.). Oil consumption is apparently an issue, but I've gone 13k on this oil change with synthetic and only burnt through less than a quart at 144k miles so far. I bought this specific example because the Infiniti dealer recently did a diff fluid replacement, transmission fluid replacement, brake flush, and coolant flush. Make sure these has been done, or budget enough to do it yourself since it's about that time. The transmission is reliable, and cheap to buy used if it ever goes out.

Since you're located in Jersey, the only thing I'd look out for is rust on the subframes, suspension components, etc. Also check the Carfax report to make sure maintenance records are decent. Check intake filters and any cracks on the serpentine belt. Other than that, the V36 are probably one of the most solid luxury cars built, on par with Lexus if I'm honest.

If you really have the budget, try getting a G37 example. The G35 is nice, but the G37 comes with more things (which is why I'm pondering the purchase of a 2010-2014 G37X).

G35x Base
I just picked up an 08 G35x with 139k for 6500 sticker price (higher when you factor title, registration, plates, etc.), clear title, car fax showed that it literally had only ever been to Infiniti dealers for maintenance, so I'm not overly concerned. I would say that as long as the car fax shows that regular maintenance was getting done ontime (or at least pretty close) by someone you would trust to do it, 6100 was a pretty good price. 97k in good condition around here would run you close to 9k

I am holding on to my 2007 G35x until it dies. My other car is a 2018 Audi Q7, and I don't _need_ a 2nd vehicle but when it came to major repairs the G has been bulletproof and drives as well as the first day I bought it. That said, expect to have to change suspension components at some point down the road (I replaced shocks/struts, bushings, front wheel bearings, and driver side control arm). A/C compressor failure was another major repair. I also replaced belt pulleys - mostly as prophylaxis. Otherwise, no significant problems with regular maintenance.
