OEM Backup camera install

Does anyone know if it’s possible to install the OEM backup camera on a 08 G35. My car didn’t come with the backup camera but when I removed my trunk spoiler i saw the wiring for the backup camera. If I install one will it work?

It was the first thing I did. And it will work. You must wire it to your screen. Bypass the e-brake. And provide power.

I installed an OEM camera in my non nav G35X
It came with 4 wires.
If you look inside your trunk lid, you will see a female plug. Follow those wires to a connector above the driver's side wheel well in the rear fender.
2 wires for video are shielded.
You can splice those, run them through the back seat, under the carpet , up through the armrest .
I took out the IPOD plug because ipods are lame.
For the 2 power wires I spliced into my reverse bulb in my trunk lid.
It extends the life of the camera, only turning on when the car is in reverse.

Since I only use AUX to run my in car entertainment via bluetooth adapter (MP3, Spotify, Youtube ect) it's always in AUX anyways so the camera is always ready to go.
If you're listening to the radio, or the CD changer you have to press AUX to see the camera.

If you plug in the camera, it will not work on your screen.
You must do 3 things:

Provide power
Provide signal to your screen
Bypass E-brake

Please refer to the post above

I saw your post in the other thread, so please excuse the redundancy. Can you explain the process when one swaps out the non camera chrome lip with an OEM one with the camera? With the other aftermarket cameras you have to splice in for power and run the video line to the A/V inputs in the center console. Do we have to do the same with the OEM camera, or are the wires already in the lid and we just have to plug into them?

Did you get a camera installed? Did you end up going OEM or use an aftermarket solution?

When you swap out the old chrome lip , with a new chrome lip with an OEM camera the install is just like an aftermarket.
Splice for power ( I used the reverse tail light line so power is applied when the reverse lights turn on) .
Run RCA's to your armrest
Really simple bro

That plug is meant for the OEM camera. But on our cars, it's not connected to anything, since our cars aren't configured for backup cameras. Even though it's not connected to anything, it's still a very useful connection. It allows your camera wiring to hide neatly alongside the factory wiring so you don't have dangling loose wires on a moving trunk lid. Remember, the wires need to go in the middle of your trunk lid ( a moving part ) ... all the way to your arm rest.

There are already 2 videos that should cover most of what you need to know with only slight differences.

Watch both those videos. I don't think anyone here is going to make a video just for you bro .
