Cam code away with oil change....

I recently bought an 08 G35 base model. 114k miles, runs strong and powerful. After a few weeks the cam position sensor came on. I read somewhere to start with an oil change and go from there. Seafoam in the oil beforehand to clean as much gunk out as possible. About a week after changing the oil, my check engine light went off on its own. I'm slightly worried, but no issues run wise. Could it have been as simple as dirty/low oil?

It could have been a glitch or some contamination on the sensor. Who knows, the car could still have the code pending, what code did you pull???

With my 2004 G35, I had no check engine lights or codes to be found with my Innova code reader nor my ScanGauge. However, when I purchased DataScan 2 from CZP to adjust timing and check other parameters, low and behold I had P0327 code. This lead me to inspect the knock sensor, and it just so happened a rat chewed through the harness leading to it. I'm still miffed as to why I had no CEL (bulb isn't burned out, still lights up when I start the car), and ONLY datascan was able to pull that code off the ECU. The damn sensor harness was practically chewed straight through!

The cam sensor code has nothing to do with oil changes, that would be the VTC code.

What code exactly were you getting?
