Upgrade 07-09 Non-Nav and Old Nav to: Newer 2010+ NAVIGATION Setup
Hey Guys,
Took some time to put this together for anyone interested. As far as I know, no one's really outlined what parts etc. are needed to do an upgrade / conversion on our cars. Having recently performed conversions on my '09 G37 coupe and the wife's 08 EX35, I've now upgraded a total of 5 vehicles. Works out beautifully if you have the right parts (see list below) and some degree of radio installation experience (or access to good installer). Of course you'll need to purchase the 2010-2015 navigation parts, which normally costs less than a few hundred bucks in total.
Also, on the business end, I'm offering Plug-N-Play Conversion Harness Kits for each of the different system variations in our cars (Base Audio, BOSE audio, or NAV w/BOSE Audio), as each one is wired differently to accommodate the 2010+ conversion. The kits include everything needed to make an easy plug-n-play swap, minus the navigation parts themselves. EDIT: The harness kit and info on that can be found in the #5 post below for anyone interested in doing a conversion and making life a Whoooole lot easier...
Otherwise, you'd just need to get your hands on a Factory Wiring Harness from a Donor 2010-2015 G37/Q40/Q60 or EX35/EX37/QX50 With Navigation and then pin-out, cut/strip, solder, and heat shrink the existing connections to the new ones. Also fabricate and run a new shielded cable for the Display, Microphone (base and bose model only), and Rear View Camera, and then purchase & install a GPS antenna, Nissan USB adapter, and perhaps a SiriusXM Antenna + the necessary Adapter. Not fun that way, but certainly doable.
Either way, if you guys have any questions just let me know and I'll do my best to help you out. Check it out:
FEATURES OF 2010-2015 NAVIGATION Systems w/Bose
• Voice control navigation
• Higher-Resolution Display
• Bluetooth Audio Streaming & Phone Calls
• USB port auxiliary input (+RCA inputs on select units)
• Rear view camera input

PARTS NEEDED FOR THE CONVERSION
(1) Touch Screen Display (2) Control Panel for Display (3) Faceplate / Climate Panel (4) NAV Unit / Radio Receiver
Cars with '07-09 NAV System only require parts 1 and 4.
Cars with BOSE (Non-nav) Audio System require all four parts.
Cars with Base Audio System require all four nav parts and:
(5)Adding an amplifier to power the car speakers(6)Installing a microphone, for voice communication.
(1) Touch Screen Display
From a 2010-2015 G37, Q40, Q60, EX35, EX37, or QX50 with Nav.
Part No: 28091-1BY3A, 28091-1BY3B, 28091-1BY1E, 28091-1BY1F, or 28091-1BY3C.
(2) Control Panel for Display (not needed for 07-09 NAV cars)
From a 2008-2015 G37, Q40, Q60, or EX35 with Nav.
Part No: 28395-1UF1A, 28395-1UF2A, 28395-JK605, 28395-JK65B, or 28395-JK66B.
(3) Faceplate / Climate Panel (optional for 07-09 NAV cars, the existing faceplate can be reused)
From a 2010-2015 G37, Q40, or Q60 with Nav.
Part No: 25391-1UF3A.
or
From a 2008-2009 G37 with NAV. (These faceplates have a hard drive slot on them)
Part No: 25391-JK64B or 25391-JK65B
(4) NAV Unit / Radio Receiver
From a 2010-2015 G37, Q40, or Q60 with Nav.
Part No: 25915-1JA0B, 25915-1JA1E, 25915-1JA2B, 25915-3LZ1A, or 25915-3LZ1C
(Note – these nav units don't support RCA inputs; USB input only).
or
From a 2010 FX35, FX50, or EX35 with Nav.
Part No: 25915-ZX74A or 25915-JJ52C
(Note – these nav units support both RCA + USB inputs, however they may require dealer reprogramming to activate the rear camera, since those vehicles have around-view monitoring).
(5) Amplifier Install - Base Audio System Cars Only
The 2010+ NAV Unit/Radio does not have a built-in amp like the Base audio radio unit, so an external amp needs to be installed to power the car speakers. You will need:
· 4+ Channel Amplifier and Installation Kit to install the power, ground, and remote turn-on wire the amp needs.
· 4+ Channel Line Output Converter (LOC), if the intended amp is not designed to accept differential-balanced signals (the type of low-level signals that come from the NAV/BOSE Radio Units). Check your amp's specifications.
Installation would be as follows:
- If your intended amp has differential-balanced inputs (like most JL Audio amps and the factory BOSE amp for example):
Connect the NAV Unit/Radio (sound signal output wires) --> AMP --> Speakers (sound signal wires on the dashboard side of the Harness Adapter).
Or:
- If your intended amp does not have differential-balanced inputs (the majority of aftermarket amps):
Connect the NAV Unit/Radio (sound signal output wires) --> LOC --> AMP --> Speakers (sound signal wires on the dashboard side of the Harness Adapter).
(6) Microphone, for voice - Base Audio System Cars Only
These cars don't have microphone, and so should install one.
From a 2008-2015 G37, Q40, or Q60. Part No: 28336-JK60A, 28336-1VZ0A, or 28336-1VZ0B.
Optional Parts to Consider Installing
• Rear View Camera, if needed / desired.
• USB Flush Mount/Panel Mount Extension Cable, for mounting the USB port in car.
• SiriusXM Satellite Antenna, for keeping/adding satellite radio (not needed for cars with Nav already)

New lower prices on the harness kits.
Also, we're currently offering COMPLETE Navigation Conversion Assemblies (that include very good-excellent condition used parts and the appropriate harness kit) go from $665 - $720, plus $25 shipping.
