Coolant Question? (Stumped)

Hello everyone! I bought a 2007 G35S Sedan about a month and a half ago. Yesterday, I realized that I never checked the fluids on it (rookie mistake, I know), but I noticed there was literally no coolant in the reservoir. I thought that it might’ve just been an opaque container, but I went out to buy some Prestone coolant today anyways. I got back home, filled some in, and realized that I could in fact see the coolant, meaning that I was running without coolant this entire time. I always check the engine temp when driving, and although the LED part of the gauge is out, it still does work and it shows my engine temp to be right around the halfway mark when warmed up. Does anyone have any possible explanation for why my motor didn’t seize or overheat? I’ve put 500 miles on the car since I bought it, and I’m purely stumped. Would appreciate some help, thank you!

The reservoir is just a small percentage of the total system coolant.

If you suspect a leak then pressure test the system.

Also, make sure you use NISSAN GREEN coolant, not just random off-the-shelf coolant. These vehicles require a special blend that is DARK GREEN, not your usual "nuke-u-lar green" colored coolant. It will say "for Asian vehicles" for generic brands like Prestone.
