Alternator randomly not charging

Alright guys. This is a new one for me. The car is a 07 g35 sport sedan. The alternator went out back in April, so i picked up one from autozone. Replaced it and I've had no problems til Monday morning. When i crunk the car i noticed it turned over slightly slower than usual. I let it idle for a few minutes to warm up, then the abs, brake, and check engine light came on. No battery light. Then all the dash lights and touch screen went out, but was still idling. Grabbed my multimeter and checked the voltage on the battery. Only had 10.2 volts at idle. Then it died and only had 10 volts.
I then turned it to ignition on engine off and noticed the battery light isn't lighting up. Guess the led has burned out. Pulled the alternator out and took it back to autozone to find out their tester isn't working, but they exchanged it under warranty. Installed new alternator and charged battery. Voltage tested at 14.4 at idle. Great! Thought i was good.
Fast forward to today. I've been driving it since with no problem. Got of work and was driving home. Came up on a road crew doing some work on the shoulder so i slowed down to go by. After i got by i hit the accelerator at about 35 and nothing happened. Like i never touched the pedal. Pulled to the side of the road and as soon as i got stopped all the lights came on again. It would rev in neutral, but nothing as soon as i put it in drive. Tested the voltage again and only had 9.8 volts at idle
Called my wife and she picked me up and took me to the house where i pulled the battery out of my 04 g35. Went back and swapped out the battery and drove straight to advance to have the charging system tested. Everything tests good with 14.3 volts at idle. I'm at a loss. Can't understand how it seems to be charging one minute then randomly stops. Currently have the battery charging so i can have it tested tomorrow, but it was replaced in April with the alternator
Sorry for the long post, but wanted to be thorough with the details. Any ideas? Appreciate any help

Well, 4 autozone alternators later it seems to be charging correctly for the moment. Also the battery light is coming on now with key on engine off. Third alternator was bad straight out of the box. Ended up returning it and getting them to order a new one instead of the reman unit. Moral of the story? Don't buy autozone alternator unless you just want practice changing them out

Usually I have OEM alternators and starter rebuilt locally, way better results compared to big box parts house reman units.

Tried that with the alternator on my 07 hr 350z. Since i live in the great state of Mississippi, there's only 1 shop i could find locally that would even attempt it. Something about the other shops couldn't get the regulator. It works, but sitting at a red light or stop sign the voltage surges between 12.5 and roughly 15 volts unless i put it in neutral. Took it back and it tested good so he said nothing is wrong with it. I have zero luck with alternators

I see you posted about an issue with your 07 g35 losing power after replacing the alternator. Did you ever get it figured out? I’m experiencing the same exact issue and can’t figure it out.

Ended up buying a new alternator from autozone. Tried the rebuilt one and had same issue. The new one seemed to correct the problem

Sadly was probably an issue with the voltage regulator portion. Glad you got it fixed.

Is the issue resolved after buying the brand new alternator because I'm having the same exact issues but I also went with the AutoZone rebuild alternator

Strange I don't recall seeing many of these bad alternator threads often on the G35 forum but this same exact symptom happens so often on the Murano forum I'm on. It's got to be the top most common issue or closely tied for #1 with bad CVTs. Like at least 1 or 2 per week all with the exact same symptoms. The Murano uses the same VQ35DE but a different alternator for whatever reason but they also have so many problems with alternators flaking out intermittently like this. My 2010 included. It'll be driving along fine and then the charging system just drops out completely and many times does not light the charging system fault light on the dash. So unless you have some way of knowing your charging voltage is low, you'll just keep driving until your battery is dead and the car limps for a bit and then dies. And the stories over there about getting bad replacement alternators right out of the box from auto parts stores are also so common. Some of them seem to not work right out of the box or fail soon after replacement. Some people go through 3 or 4 before they get one that works. It's crazy. I installed a reman Bosch alternator from Rock Auto in my Murano and haven't had a problem in a year. But based on the stories I've read I would avoid auto store remans. Either new or reman oem or a legit brand like Bosch reman. I assume all the same reasons the Murano parts fail and then the replacement reman units fail is the same for the G35.

Good luck.
