Got my g with 81k miles bout month ago from a used dealership for a good price compared to others in my area. Upon doing research I believe only 08 g35x with navigation comes with backup camera. I haven’t ever seen a g like mine (08 g35x sedan with all packages besides navigation) have a oem camera on the spoiler. Every one I see only has the button for trunk and mine has a camera next to it. Whenever I reverse, nothing happens and has ever since I got the car. The screen just stays on the normal display. My car has no camera settings option or anything. Today I opened up the trunk liner to find the camera is wired and everything and looks like it came from the factory like that. Im thinking it is a control module but I know nothing. Any help or suggestions to fix?

Does it have tech package as well?

 

It def has tech, it is fully loaded besides navi which Im confused about if that brochure is saying you need navi to add tech. I got every feature in the car from sunroof to cruise control besides the navi features.

 

So you have button config without the MAP button? If you have the first one makes me think someone swapped a failed unit out.




Versus the navigation button layout? If you have this layout might be a partially failed head unit.

 

I don’t got the navi button layout, I figured it had to be the unit, I don’t think the owner swapped it out because of how untouched it looked under the trunk liner. Still a mystery to me as I have never even seen a v36 with the camera on the chrome spoiler without navi package. I couldn't find anybody online with the same issue, makes me wonder if the owner disables the module somehow. Anyways thanks for help

 

I stand by opinion something swapped there... never seen anything like that with fully loaded.

My '07 is optioned fully loaded likes yours except I have working nav.

Does your Music box rip music from CDs?

Do you have the Compact Flash Slot on lower right corner of center stack?

 

I haven’t tried any CDs since and don’t got any laying around to try, and I do got the flash slot, here some more pics. Worth mentioning that my gauge cluster is ****ed which is unrelated to this but could have something to do with it.



6k+ on tachometer came back but blinks and goes out sometimes

LEDs going out on cluster does happen. Mine are still working but threads here on fixing yourself or sending cluster out for repair.

Ok... vehicle doesn't have Tech Package. The Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) Buttons are here. Notice on ICC vehicle On/Off sits lower and top is the variable distance control.

Does Carfax say how many previous owners?

 

There are 3 previous owners. By retrofit do you mean they added the chrome lip with the camera? Appreciate the help I thought I had tech the whole time because I had normal cruise control

 

Radar sensor for cruise and preview braking is on the driver side below the bumper. No worries... just trying to get to the bottom of why it isn't working. Tech also has the AFS HIDS (lights that turn left and right into corners)

yeah.. I was thinking they might have added the chrome lip with camera. I'd have to look back at older threads on what many did to retrofit.

 

I installed a lip with a camera and got it to work through AUX.

If you can't find a fix, you can easily rewire it.
