2008 g35 sedan tsb question
Hesitation/bogging and stalls at 1k rpm
Hey everyone. I recently purchased a 2008 g35 sedan from a private party. After a week, I started noticing that the car would hesitate and stall right at 1k rpm if not given enough gas. Initially I thought it just need some tlc so I cleaned the TB/MAF/reset the idle, changed the spark plugs, battery, and used some fuel cleaner. After researching the forum I believe its due to TSB itb11-018, which requires a ecm reprogram. My question is, is the dealership the only option to have it reprogrammed? Theyre charging a $200 diagnostic fee plus cost of programming if needed. Anyone know if I could get a reflash like uprev to fix it? My isssue is exactly like this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89abNzb1k7o
Recap: engine hesitates/stalls at 1k rpm. Issue only happens after car is warm and in 1st gear. Typically when I give a little gas pulling into a parking spot or from a complete stop. No other issues. Car runs prefect otherwise. I can replicate the issue if I leave the car in first, hold the brakes with one foot, and rev it up to 1k rpm.

FSM section EC - Engine Controls. Idle air volume recalibration under the "basic service procedures" step. This needs to be done anytime you clean intake stuff like the throttle bodies and sometimes you need to do it a couple times to "get a good one". Alternately you can use an OBD2 bluetooth adapter and the Nissan Datascan 3 app for your smartphone. That lets you view the status of the power relay to make sure the system CAN be recalibrated as well as just requiring the single push of a button to initiate rather than the pedal dance method.
However the TSB was mostly just due to a hesitation, it's INCREDIBLY uncommon for it to stall out unless you have other problems and I would suspect a vacuum leak.
As for the reprogramming, yes an UpRev tune would correct this issue as well.

thanks for the reply. No it hasnt been sitting long. I drove it on a ~100 miles trip the first weekend it got it. Ill try the pedal relearn again.

I lived through a lot of TSBs in 2007-2008 for my '07.
One specifically I experienced was a hot soak idle where the car would start revving up and down at low idle after for example a stop light. Also the 2007 models had a very sensitive accel pedal... this was tuned down as well with TSB.. Undoubtedly some are still out there that aren't flashed. Ordered mine 12/2006 and took delivery 3/2007
Cruise control surge, replacement FOBs, other engine flashes, etc...
I don't think about it much anymore... she is "old school"
Toyota reliable these days

Ok awesome I was afraid I would loss pedal sensitivity with the update, I guess this is my only option left to try for the 1k hesitation since I have checked everything else oil pressure/ retarders ohms good/ fuel pressure/ coil and sparkplugs, will give it a try
