NA or FI

I've been looking at building my engine and I've noticed that it doesn't look like much power is gained from NA mods but I've seen some pretty crazy power figures from FI builds would it be more worth it to wait for a while and save to do a FI build or not. obviulsy i can do the basics like intake exhaust and stuff of that sense but should I go any further than that or is it kind of wasted money at that point?

also to those who have done a FI build how much should I be expecting to pay I know its not cheap but most of the kits I've seen are over $10,000

Are you doing the work yourself or paying a shop?

Ok well the stock rods can handle 450whp so keep that in consideration. Supercharged is the least expensive, new is roughly $7k complete, used kits are typically half price but you may need the compressor rebuilt which is another $750 or so and a used kit also typically doesn't include the UpRev license/software/cable so figure another $750 for that as well.

If your metal fab skills are up to par you can make your own hot/cold side and go turbocharged for about the same price. Single eBay turbo and you can cheap out on a lot of stuff but definitely spend the money for a good wastegate. Don't bother with a boost controller to start with, just run it on the gate spring until you get everything else ironed out and put rods/pistons in.

I wouldn't plan on more than about 8-10 psi with stock piston/rods and a supercharger, 6-8psi with a turbo.

The Stillen kit for the HR has a great reputation.

Well under $10k, including the tune. The one reviewer states he/she is making a bit over 400 whp, about 100 more than a full bolt-on N/A but still safe for the stock rods.
