260k miles with original suspension - time to replace?

Thinking to get some cheap aftermarket strut/mount assembly for the front and struts for the rear, it is still running with original suspension. I hope to get another 2-3yrs out of this car so not looking to get more expensive ones like KYB.

Obviously I noticed lack of shock absorption/rough ride but I've gotten used to it, I've maintenance this car pretty good for most part except suspension for some reason.

I'm amazed how long they've lasted, do they ever go bad? I don't notice any major leaking. Appreciate any comments/feedback before I place order.

Yeah you get used to it alright. I didn't realize how bad mine were until I upgraded to another car.
The ride is rough, esp in the big cities like ours ... with bad roads, but on the highway it's fine.

I suspect driving on original suspension is causing my front wheel hubs to go back twice in last few years, maybe also uneven tire wear. Gladly I drive 70% highway/30% local, mostly used for daily commute.

I should've replaced it when it was about 150k miles but now at 260 miles and maybe 2-3yrs left, not sure if it is worth replacing them?

I think it is worth it personally. Shocks are mostly worn out at 60k miles. You’ll notice a massive improvement. Do you know how your bushings are in the control arms? If they are very blown out they will wear the struts out pretty quick - so check those out too.

if you're the original owner, then sure. if not, good chances the prior owner replaced them already. do the "bounce test" and see how many up/downs it takes for it to settle. probably a good idea, regardless, especially at that low of a price for both struts.
