Hi oem style, I hit something and it pulled my exhaust down, and bent the flanges on both original cats

Anybody have ideas? I have had 2 exhaust shops tell me they only want to install magna flow or oem, both way too expensive. I need something solid that wont trigger check engine light, but reasonable cost?

Honestly at this point you're probably better off just buying an inexpensive aftermarket HFC if you can't find some OEM ones locally.

These cars are old, exhaust parts take a beating, you're probably not going to find a set of OEM cats in good condition for less than a cheap pair of aftermarket brand new HFC's.

Hi, yes thats what I was wanting, I dont want oem (cost) but need to find a decent aftermarket cat that will not set off the check engine light and the exhaust shops will install (most say aftermarket wont fit etc). When you say HFC, is that high flow?
I found some called Berk high flow cats on ebay, does anyone know if they are good?

HFC = High Flow Catalytic Converter, these are typically viewed as a performance aftermarket component but since the OEM cats are so expensive and hard to find they are also a totally viable option since they're typically cheaper when comparing brand new components.

Your exhaust shop is lying to you when they said aftermarket won't fit, it's literally a direct bolt-in replacement, no welding, just unbolt the existing ones and bolt in the new ones. I've never actually seen ones that DON'T fit, just make sure you are buying them for the correct vehicle. Your 2007-2008 V36 sedan with the HR engine uses a different bolt pattern than the 2003-2006 V35 chassis with the DE engine.

HFC's will not trigger the check engine light, they're still doing the work of a normal cat but with a higher rate of flow.

As for brand, people typically try to stay away from the Berks for the DE engine, they had a lot of quality issues when they first came out. I haven't heard anything negative about the newer ones though. I think a lot of the blame wasn't necessarily with Berk though, a bad tune will quickly destroy any catalytic converter. You're completely stock and untuned so it will probably be fine.

Really appreciate you breaking it all down for me! Do you know of other brands as well that guys are using besides the Berk, maybe on ebay? Berk was around $500-600 for a pair for my car, which is fine, but if there are other brands would love to see them.

Best brand probably is Fast Intentions, they make a really good quality resonated HFC. There's usually a little lead time on it so call them to see how long it would take to deliver.

Hi again, what would be another brand do you think, fast intentions has 10-12 week lead time, I was just getting ready to sell this car after all the years I have had it, and then this happened to cats. I need something I can get a quick shipment if possible.

Ohh if you're getting ready to sell it just buy whatever you can get for the cheapest, doesn't really matter at this point.

Cant go wrong with Kinetix

I’m driving my 2nd G and on both I have purchased Kinetix HFC’s. Never had an issue with CEL’s. And they will let your G breathe better. Not a lot but I even seen a little better mpg! Ps they are direct bolt on fit like a glove.
