How to access the right rear sunroof drain exit for reverse plunge cleaning?
How to access the right rear sunroof drain exit for reverse plunge cleaning?
My son's 2008 g35 is leaking water into the rear passenger footwell. I've checked the front right drain and its clear, water flows fine and exits behind the right tire. The left front is clogged about halfway ( i can only run a string trimmer line about halfway before it stops, but I can clear that later).
So my expectation is that the right rear drain tube is clogged. I would like to run a thick string trimmer line through it to unclog it. I don't expect I can access this from the sunroof so I have to do it from where it exits behind the rear fender well I suppose. Anyone have any suggestion on how to access that drain? Is it accessible from below if I elevate the car? Or do I have to remove the rear tire and wheel well plastic cover shroud?

Any vehicle I’ve dealt with in the last 20-25 years required a headliner drop to clean rear sunroof drains.
This is what I did on the front ones

Thanks for the reply. I never could get to the rear drain so I just dried up the water as best I could before he had to leave back for college. Until he gets back from school for Thanksgiving break I'm ordering a rain/snow car cover that he will use while the car is parked (he only drives it on the weekends and takes transit to school daily).
The front passenger floorboard was soaked as well. I pulled the carpet back and that deep well where the styrofoam is had about an inch of sitting water. I dried it all out. I suspect the firewall drain gromit is to blame there, Infiniti "replaced" it a couple years ago when we had the same issue.
Now the front and the back footwells on passenger side are both soaked. I'm not sure if the front is responsible for the back or both front and back drains are to blame.

I usually start by spraying a bunch of brake cleaner into the tube then shooting compressed air into it to try to blow the sludge out. Just be careful with the compressed air, don't make a perfect airtight seal and shoot 100psi down that tube or you could rupture it.
