My First Real Gripe With The Sedan

Okay, I admit it - this is gonna sound gay.

Had to pull the right rear tire off my car today, and that meant I had to pull the jack. HAS ANYONE HAD TO PULL THE JACK OUT OF THAT TINY LITTLE HOLE?

WTF!!WTF!!

It wasn't the removal, it was the re-installation that sucked. I had to get a mirror and a flashlight to make sure I had it back in the little cubby correctly. The last thing I need is that POS bouncing around inside the rear corner panel. With my luck I'd wake up to a new host of dents poking out of the left rear corner panel from the inside of the trunk. AND WTF IS THAT PLASTIC TUBE FOR? It reminds me of a ****-tube in an aircraft.

Once more.. WTF?

Be careful storing your jack tools. Mine became dislodged and fell below reach. I didn't realize this until the dealer told me they had to use a long magnet to retrieve them. I now keep my jack tools in with the spare.

In my 05 the jack tools were already in the spare tub in a vinyl snap-bag. Maybe they learned their lesson.

Yeah, I would move the jack tools to where the spare tire is [that is what I did]. That will eliminate your problem.

Ditto on my '04, they were there from the factory!

Maybe, but it's also possible that the roadside support that is warranty provision would mean a lot of buyers (probably the majority) wouldn't be going near the jack. I suppose you could conclude there may be some downsides to buying a $30k+ car.

Whenever I buy a new car, one of the first things I do is familiarize myself with the jacking tools, procedures and jack points on the car - just in case. It's a lot easier if you already know where everything is, then if you're finding out for the first time on the side of a dark road at 2 in the morning.

With that being said, when I got the new G home, I opened the trunk, looked at the spare, saw where the jack was and said "Fugg it".

Roadside assistance indeed.

Thumbs down RSA, not for me...

I'm not willing to wait 2 hours for "roadside Asshat" to show up and change my tire for me. You also look like a PU$$Y if you can't change your own tire. RSA is for women and punks that worry more about there fingernails than there cars.

Woah, did I say that....

I'd doubt many on this site would use RSA to change a tire. I certainly wouldn't. But I don't think we're a representative group of Infiniti owners. I'll bet the majority would use RSA or AAA. Just the same as for the number of 6mt buyers vs AT buyers. Most G35s are AT. My point isn't that you shouldn't change your own tire but when you're a manufacturer that is appealing to the Infiniti, Acura, Lexus, BMW (list goes on) market, you're talking about people that think RSA is pretty cool. If that's the case, then Infiniti is making an educated guess that having the jack convenient isn't a big deal.
