More clunking in shock/strut area after repair 08 Awd

Took it to the mechanic to fix an original clunking sound that i had that only happens at low speed/over speed bumps and uneven surfaces and i also had a very very slight play in body roll so i got the sway bar end links fixed and while getting them fixed they suggested i get outer tire rod driver side because they claimed it had play so i got that now the steering feels better with the end links but there is a new clunking sound that sounds a bit more aggressive but its higher up in the shock/strut area driver side only!!..? my original plan was to get the entire suspension redone but peice by peice is this a strut issue or due to the fact that i got only an outer tire rod fixed on the driver side? The passenger side had no play

Can be: ball joint (upper and/or lower), lower control arm rear bushing (arm rod end detaches from sleeve within the fixed bushing), inner tie rods, loose rack and pinion, loose strut nut and/or strut mount, loose lower strut 3 bolt bracket, bad wheel bearing, loose brake caliper.
Engine OFF, ignition ON, rock the steering wheel left and right and listen for noises. Do it hard few times and then do it slow and have someone look at the wheels while you move the steering wheel to see any play.
