I put a deposit on an 08 G35 sedan last night and am going to pick it up this afternoon. The lady said that the dial that you can spin right below the nav screen isn't responsive. Like you can spin it but nothing happens. I've been trying to find info on that to see if its a common issue but either I'm calling it the wrong thing or its not really a problem. I read all about the earlier years soldering issues in the radio but think this is a different issue. I saw I can buy a nav control panel with vents off ebay for not a ton of money as well. Have you guys seen this problem?

I'm pretty excited about this car, its got only 48k miles. Was grandmas car until about a year ago and the lady works from home so it didn't get driven much at all. She says the oil has been changed 3 times this year because the change oil notification can't be reset, I assume you do that in the menu with this dial that isn't working.

I picked the car up and from what I can tell the info button isn’t working. This is a non nav unit. The dial registers when I spin it in some of the other button profiles but it doesn’t seem like the enter or direction arrows on the dial register either. I think I’m going to order an eBay part for around $35 and cross my fingers that it works.

 

I just threw out all those stock navigation crap from my 07. I've replaced it with a aliexpress 10" android auto screen and trust me, you'll want to do the same.

 

I swapped the button panel tonight and see the same thing. The info button and the up, down, and right buttons don't register pushes.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm I ly out $20 for the eBay part and don't feel like replacing the whole screen assembly. I'm not a big modder and like factory stuff.

One thought I had is to get the panel that this ribbon cable plugs in to. That would be the middle one with the HVAC and radio controls on it. My thinking is that if 2 button panels both act the same then maybe it's the assembly they plug in to. Not sure how much that part would cost though.
