Angry Get rid of those Friggin Pop-ups

Geez , the stupid pop-ups we get are ridiculous. Originally if you payed for a Premier Membership there were not supposed to be pop-ups among other things.
Don't they bother the rest of you guys and gals

What pop-ups? I've never seen one and I visit the site daily. What browser are you using and is the pop-up block enabled? I'm using Google Chrome with the extension adblock with does an awesome job of blocking every ad (firefox has this as well). Speeds up page loading too. With all the ads on this site the loading time was probably doubled.

I was on IE, now I'm on Firefox.

Where on Firefox will I be able to block these Pop ups?

I am not too savy on computers.

Here is the link to install Adblocker Plus for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/

Hope that helps!

Thanks, I downloaded it and it still happens.

Here is an example post. When my cursor goes over AWD in the post below a pop-up appears.

EDIT: I get the pop-up over AWD on this thread also

Huh, I see what you mean now. The pop-ups that open when you hover over a word.

You have to restart your browser for the add on to fully install. I just tried it and I think that will forever solve your problem with all ads. =]

+1 for ABP, it works great.
Make sure you select a filter for it to work.

I downloaded the ABP then screwed up trying to download a filter. Eventually I got frustrated and gave up.
So I am stuck with my Pop-ups for now.

I knew they were there, I just avoid hitting them haha I do wish that they would get rid of them.

Huh, that's strange. You really don't have to select any filters because it is enabled by default. You completely closed your browser and opened it again right?

The only other thing I can think of is that you may be running an outdated version of Firefox. To check just click the help menu at the top and select "About Firefox." The latest version number is: 3.6.13. If yours says anything other than that, I'd highly recommend downloading the newest version on Firefox's website. Let me know if that was the problem or if you just want to give up....lol. (:

I restarted Firefox about 10 times and even restarted the computer. It has like a red stop sign with ABP on it in the upper right corner of my screen since I downloaded it.
I am using version 3.6.13 Firefox.

back when I was a PM, those ads were the reason I went premier.

It's pretty sad that premier members and staff still get them...

Ok, I just tried this again and it's working for me...no idea why. This is an add on for the adblock plus made just for blocking text ads. Give it a whirl and let me know what happens:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4364/

That should block every text ad. If that doesn't work, try right clicking the text ads and see if there is an option to block them that way. Between both of those suggestions, something has to work...lulz
