Another marketplace suggestion

I would really like it if items posted for sale by people that aren't willing to ship be moved to the appropriate regional sections. Saw this on my350z and really liked the idea. It almost makes no sense for people to use the standard classifieds section and not be willing to ship. I'm personally sick of seeing it and know I'm not the only one

I actually dont like how my350z sections are all full of different sales threads

sometimes you can even convince a seller to ship

I rarely see someone firm on not shipping actually being convinced into shipping. I do however see listings saying ill ship if you pay those are fine. But people who specify I will not ship is just stupid for it to be in typical classifieds. Probably better off for the sale in regionals

There is a post in the marketplace right now that I've been watching for awhile to see if the guy will give in to shipping. It's 3 pages long now with people asking him to change his mind about not shipping. I think a separate section for the non shipping sellers is an EXCELLENT idea. If the seller is open to shipping at all, then they would just put it into the appropriate section.

I guess it would make sense for most smaller regional forums like SoCal or NorCal...but it wouldn't make much sense in larger regional forms like the Canadian section

IDK...

I see the advantages, but there are also big disadvantages. It becomes much harder to moderate (I know my350z already ran into that problem) and it fractures the for sale sections.

For example, we have a Florida G Club section, but that's not really a regional section, that's a club section... then there's south-east, but that's like a quarter of the country, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have people that don't want to ship post there because 95% of the area covered by that "region" is outside of their 'local pick-up radius'
Then there's also the sf-g club section.... sometimes I'll check FS threads depending on what I'm looking for, or if I have a trip coming up, I might be willing to go outside my area to get something, or ask somebody if they can bring it to a big central event (like Zdayz) ...so that would mean I would now have at least 4 different for-sale sections to check out.... that's just way too much to keep up with.

I do have another suggestion though, what about getting a little Will-Ship/Won't-Ship tag to add on to the threads just like the FS/FT/WTB one (but different colors and in addition to it) so that it will be easier to spot threads that are local pickup only?

Can i make another suggestion. ONCE the items are sold, can that person close that thead and put SOLD in the title. That way people that are looking for that item/s don't waste the time going through who knows how many pages just to find out that items are already sold.

I don't know if its a premium only feature but its already possible to close your own threads and then there's a reason for close optional section where you can put "sold"...its just that no one uses it for some reason

^ It's mentioned in the rules already; unfortunately it's something that is pretty much unenforceable. Some conscientious members close their threads, most don't. I do close threads which have their items no longer available when I see them.

★★Classified Posting Rules - Please READ BEFORE POSTING★★

When Item is SOLD or Sale is FINISHED
1. Please edit the original post and add a comment to mark it as "SOLD", "CLOSED" etc.
Please do not delete the content of the OP, as this will be of value to future classified posts.
Also, do NOT add a new post for same. (needless bump)
2. Please Close your thread. You have the ability to close (Lock) your Original Post in the Classifieds ONLY.

I didn't even know you could close your own thread until yesterday

Maybe if the "close" button was placed at the top or bottom of the page rather than under "thread tools" people would notice it more often ?
