Hooman and Repsol, please take your off topic banter to the coupe forum! just kidding

I agree that the mods need to have more power to clean up the excessive posts, or maybe we just need more mods. every now and then a little off topic fun is okay, but its gotten out of control.

the only down side of this is that the off topic forum has been the only place for older members to hide from all the stupid Mr G35 threads, and now it might get polluted with the same BS that has ruined the coupe forum.

but if the little kids go off to the OT forums and discuss why they are paying 26,000 dollars a year for car insurance, or how they were racing on the freeway doing speeds in excess of 150mph, the adults can have civilized discussions about DIY mods, performance and aesthich upgrades, and the like. It's all one big cycle.

It will force the people in the correct forums. Sometimes I feel we need to envoke martial law in the coupe forum. Shoot to kill threads.

Don't we all. The problem is that YOUR definition of what deserves a warning can and most likely will vary from the head admins definition. How do all of the other admins and moderators keep track of who's been warned and for what? From what I've witnessed and experienced, GEOBAU sets the guidelines for the most part and he is very lenient in most cases. Much more so than I would be, and possibly more so than others as well. If the "8 simple rules" were strictly adheared to then what you're proposing would be easy to follow. Unless things have changed, TRUST ME, it's not that cut and dry.

I'm just a softie

Honestly, we all work with pretty much the same view. The key is finding the balance. Unfortunately, a little riff-raff must survive in order to keep us from going all Hitler-Time when it comes to OT posts in the wrong place.

I will, from time to time, lay some smack down. Other than that, we can only deal primarily with what is brought to our attention.

That being said, I'd be a happy camper if the entire Coupe section was shut down. That's be super-sweet from an admin/mod standpoint

Moderators need to be your eyes and ears on the street, with some power to do house cleaning. They should be able to "tow" posts in the wrong section, modify thread titles, and other basic things that are not too hard, but waste the admins time from other things. A mod should be able to give suggestions to admins on who needs to be banned, or kicked. However, if someone is in that position (ready to be banned or kicked) the admins would have already caught wind of it.

This suggestion is meant to ease the load off the admins back, by allowing others to do the easier, non site-destruction stuff .

SNM my previous posts weren't meant to be mean spirited toward you or Geo. I was just saying that Geobau is a very fair and tolerant administrator. He lets stuff fly that I would be inclined to chastise if I were in his shoes (which I realize I'm not in his position of authority). Nothing wrong with being fair and giving people enough rope to hang themselves with I suppose.

Also, I love the Hitleresque Geobau. He can be a butt kickin', IP banning machine!

We all have our limits

Just FYI Hooman, that's how we currently have it set up. I'm not sure exactly what Donnie was referring to, but mods can move/rename/delete, and definitely help us with the warn/ban/whip process I just checked our site stats today, and we had almost 3,000 new posts in a day last week- man are we ever getting up there.
