Exclamation HELP HELP!!!! ENGINE SHUT OFF at red light

aggghhhh!!!! what do you think happened..today i was at a red light...and as i pulled away the the engine shut down. So started it back up and the engine light came on. I called the service people and they said that my tires might have slipped and shut the engine down so it wouldnt over rev ( I DOUBT THAT, i pulled off very slow (and I was in traffic)). So they said just bring it on monday(their closed on the weekends). What do you guys think could have done this???? I have zero mods, half tank of 93 gas, oil is not due for another 1000s miles. aggghhh Oh and do you guys think it will be ok to drive this weekend? It runs fine now, just the "service engine soon" light is on.
Thanks,
Jeff

You can go to your local auto parts store (most chains anyway) and have them pull the code. They can tell you what it means. May be worth the trip since your shop can't see it until Monday. That way you can make an informed/educated decision about driving it this weekend.

yeah, I think mine is on its way out as well... except mine is in a more dangerous situation. It never shuts off while idling at a light. its always when I accelerate hard to like 80mph and then neutralize.... the revs will drop right down to 0 and the engine will shut off - then I have to clutch-in and restart the car. It sucks because while turning, the hydraulics are all lost when the engine is off.
