On the top left of every forum page, if you hover over "Forums" there's a drop-down menu with a "Get New Posts" option.

I don't know of a way to be taken to the first new message in a particular thread.

The problem with the 'Get New Posts' is that it gets new posts for every single forum, and they are all mixed together (I think..I admit I did not look at it very long). I only follow 2 or 3 sections here.

It would be really useful to somehow know which posts were new in a thread, rather than having to scroll down through each one you are interested in to see where you left off. For me, I'd only want to see the new messages in a thread each time I visit. Is it not the same for everyone?

Thanks for the reply BTW.

Edit: the 'Get New Posts' seem to be sorted in time order. It would be more useful to sort by Forum, and then time within forum.

If a thread has unread posts, you can click on the little blue button to the left of the thread title on the forum page and go straight to the first unread post in the thread.
There is a similar button at the top left of the page once you are in a thread that has unread posts.

Jeez, I guess I should pay attention once in a while. I can't tell you how many hundreds of threads I've looked at and never noticed that blue button or the freaking bright yellow "View First Unread" link staring me in the face . Thanks.

I always bookmark the view new posts link for forums. It's a very easy way to have all the new posts in one place without clicking in each section I want to read. The sections are listed on the right so it's easy to skip the sections that don't pertain to me.

This is also an easy way to catch threads you wouldn't have seen if you didn't view every single topic. For example, there's a NISMO bumper thread in the Florida G35 section. I would have totally missed that since I don't live in Florida and therefor would not have viewed that section.

However, there are 17 pages of new posts since my last visit (last night) so it's a bit of a challenge to go through them all.

And, with Firefox, I can quicky go down the list, middle-click on each topic I want to view, and now I've got each topic I want to read about in a new tab. It doesn't take long to go through them all this way.

Gah. Well, there you have it. Thanks!

Glad I asked the question!
