Car & Driver: 2008 G35 coupe will have 3.7L V6

According to this month issue of C&D, 08 G35 will have 3.7L V6 with 320hp or more. Considering the coupe will be unveiled in about a month away, I can't imagine the magazine got it wrong. Hope it will be true. It makes sense though since they already have the 3.7L (from the GT-R), can't imagine why they couldn't fit it into the G35 engine bay.

Big time repost, but regarding your comment about engine size, the change of displacement is so small the engine will (physically) be hardly any larger than the current VQ35 (if at all) and if the 2008 coupe does not debut with the new 3.7l engine, physical size was not the reason.

The question is, would the name be changed to G37, it wouldnt sound right and I dont think it would happen, but I remembering reading somewhere, where they might change the name

My money is on them calling it simply "The G Coupe" as oposed to G37, if they do indeed change the name.

No, they are just going to call it the G-Coupe, no numbers after the name. If you notice the new sedan is just being called the G-Sedan, not G-35 Sedan.

i believe they will CALL it "The G Coupe", but they'll badge it as either "G35" or "G37" depending.

G35... G37... whatever.

But subconsciously, having it be a G37 makes it sound "better" than anything with "35" in the name... such as say... oh... I dunno...

...the 335 or IS350!

That's marketing.

Moreso, I wonder how similar the rumored 3.7 liter engine is to the current 3.5HR? Just bored/stroked? And therefore, how similar the current 35HR is to the GTR unit. Would be interesting...
