Why Silver?

I am just wondering why Infiniti chose silver to unveil the G37? The 07 Sedan was unveiled in silver and every picture of the GT-R has been silver. Don't get me wrong, silver is a nice color, but I would of chosen a color like Black Obsidian or Laser Red to unveil the G37 as I find it would of been a little more striking. Anyways, I was just curious.

Exactly, black doesn't show off the lines as good.

Ahhh, that makes sense. I figured there was a specific reason why Infiniti always seems to choose silver, I just didn't know why. This car is going to look damn sexy in Laser Red.

Another possible reason is that German car companies tend to display in silver (silver being Germany's "official" racing color). And, if you want to go after BMW who displayed the new 3 series and the new M3 in silver, you might want to meet them on their own turf and display your new G series cars in silver.

every new model for nearly every company is usually unveiled in silver. It is the most popular and neutral color. in essence it is the "uncolored" vehicle.

yea, and it excentuates the lines

My wife has a silver S4 and I have a black G. When her car gets dirty all she does is hose it down and it looks great. With black you had better wash it and dry it. Otherwise there will be water spots all over the car. I think I'm getting too lazy for another black car.

They used Desert Platinum back in 2002 to introduce the G35 Coupe for the Auto Show.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like every time I see a new model of BMW or Mercedes introduced in the car magazines and in print adds they are almost always silver.

Absolutely. It is the color of the sheet metal itself. No color to add to or take away from the bare metal color of the body.

In fact, not that anyone cares, Germany's official racing color is not silver, but Germany sort of adopted silver as its official racing color after the MBZs stripped all the paint off their race cars in the 30's, leaving the silver sheet metal under the paint, in an attempt to reduce weight.

I agree with Canuck, silver is just getting so old for unveiling vehicles. Almost makes the vehicle look bland.

Although black does hide the lines, im sure Infiniti could choose any other color than silver.
