Is the Infiniti G37 REALLY better than the BMW 335?

You read all the hype in the magazines and on the web that the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe has beaten the BMW 335 coupe in numerous reviews.
Do you believe the hype or are these mags totally on the take because they want to squeeze out the big ad dollars from Infiniti and BMW?
Agent 001 is in Seattle this week and he intends to find out first hand.
Keep checking back often as we update AutoSpies.com with great photos and video of the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe.
Leave it to us to get to the bottom of this heated argument.

To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends upon what you mean by "better."
1. Appearance - I give the nod to the G37 as I believe the majority of people will.
2. Value - The G37 is without question the better value since there will be conservatively a $8K differance in price between the two.
3. Fit and Finish - Infiniti typically builds great cars as does BMW, so let's call this a draw.
4. Interiors - BMW use to have the edge in this category, but there's no question that the G has improved over the years to the point where the G37 will IMO be on a par with the 335.
5. Performance - Based on the tests that I have read of the two cars, the 335 is clearly the leader in the performance category.
6. Comfort - My G35 always provided me with a very comfortable ride, especially with 19" wheels which typically make the driving experience less than comfortable. Although I haven't test driven the G37, I expect that it will provide a more comfortable drive than the 335.
7. Warranty/Maintenance - Although Infiniti has the longer warranty coverage on the drivetrain, I give the edge to BMW because of the free 4yr/50K mile free maintenance.
8. Buying and Service experience - Although the Infiniti Dealer near to me provides a super buying and servicing experience, this varies too much from Dealer to Dealer to give an edge to either company. Overall I would expect that both companies do a better than average job in this category.
9. Intangibles - I believe that for most people the BMW logo has more appeal than Infiniti, so I'll give the edge to BMW.
So which car is better? IMO a good case can be made for either car, and the value that you place on different categories will determine which car is better to you. If you crave performance and place a heavy weight on that category, than the 335 will be better. On the other hand if value, looks, and comfort are most important to you, than the G37 will be better.

I don't really think one is "better" than the other. The reasons why I think one might be better than the other might be the opposite reason why the person next to me thinks the other one is better..........if that makes sense. 
It just comes down to personal preferences, and fortunately for buyers both of these cars are fantastic.

Nice find, thanks for posting all the pics, they look hot! Better is a relative term, everyone has different preferences. The G37 is the better car for me, which is why I have one on order. However, I will not deny the fact that the 3 series is a nice car, but the G37 has my heart! 
Its just like art, it is subjective to the individual. Just depends what is important to you. Nice pics and thanks for posting. Please dont let this turn in to another "I think........ is better thread". There are already several of those for you all to post on.

In that one picture it looks like that dealership already has 3 G37's. Hopefully, this means that the G37 is releasing early and they will start showing up soon, or it may just be me and my wishful thinking!

1. The question was a lead to the story, just like the TV commercial with the teaser for a news story. It did not require an answer from anyone. It should have provoked discussion about the autospies story.
