Thumbs up Drove One Today..My 2 cents

Surprisingly my feelings are opposite of what I expected. I expected to hate the looks and be wowed by performance.

1) I really liked the look of the car, much better than the pics.
2) The performance was not really any different than my 04. I expected more. A little stiffer ride was good, but not any quicker in a straight line or around corners.

The interior was essentially the same, sport seats were nicer. All the little peripherals are cool (back up cam, ipod, flashdrive etc.).

Ultimately it's thumbs up for me. I'll most likely get one in six months after supply goes up and price comes down.

A better deal

Okay, just got back from my other local dealer. What a difference a few days make.

Since I'll be paying list for the G, it came down to trade-in value on my current car. The second dealer, without me mentioning what the first trade-in quote was, came in $2,500 higher!

On top of that, he's got exactly exactly what I'm looking for coming in in three weeks:

Journey S
Amethyst Graphite w Graphite
Premium Package
Sport Package
Tech Package
Spoiler
Trunk Mat
Splash Guards

He's even throwing in the trunk mat and wheel locks.

It looks like I'll be pulling the trigger on this one tomorrow. I just need to run it by the wife to avoid any last minute meltdowns. Since she got a new '07 MDX last year, she'll be fine.

Now which color gray is that. Earlier on this thread there was a dark gray and a white. The gray compared to the white looked darker. Are both grays two different colors or are they the same color.

Just test drove the G37, and I am going to be honest...

Wuz up guys

Well I finally had a chance to test drive the beloved G37. I loved almost all the changes, and after seeing it a for a while then test driving it, now I think the exterior looks pretty darn nice. BUT, when I start driving the car all the nice things went right out of the window... I was really disappointed on the performance of the car, I have 06 G coupe 6MT and feels faster, and I have my car in service, and the loaner car that I am driving is a 07 G sedan Auto and that also feel faster than the G37. It's wierd because as we all know the Sedan has less power, but I guess that extra weight is just killing the G. I really don't know what they were thinking, if they were to add weight but they should of considered adding more torque to the car to move the extra weight. You can feel some power at higher rpm, but no low end torque. The exhaust and everything sound beautiful, but the whole performance as in acceleration was right down horrible. That's just me, but as any other G owner I was excited and wanting to trade in my G for the new G37, but right now I am really thinking if this is going to be worth the lost...

Just my 2cents...

maybe you forgot how to drive? lets consider this.. every single review (in print and video) has stated the car performs the same as or better than the car before it.. and many of these reviews were from professional drivers (which most of us are not) so.. with that being said.....

One suggestion I'd make to anyone test drive the G37 is to pay attention to the speedometer. The car is far more refine the the 03-07 G35 coupe and I'd say more refine that the 07 G35 sedan.

It's a sleeper, you'll be doing 60mph and hardly feeling it. I found it difficult to compare to my 03 G35 coupe. I had to keep calculating the result of where I'd of been and what the effect would have been had I been driving that instead.

What I can say is doing 100 Km/h felt much faster in my 03 car. The G37 didn't feel fast until you hit 160+ km/h and then it felt like a rocket.

I think if you also look at stats like 50-70 and so on. The car is more than marginally faster than the G35 coupe.

Yes I agree with G_Nice about the speedometer. When I test drove it on the freeway, I got it up to 120mph and it felt like 90mph in my G35c. Even the salesguy was surprised I got that fast (nor was he happy about it).

Trust me, this thing is deceptively quick.

I did not say if it was faster or slower, I said it felt slower... I have intake and RPS clutch and flywheel... And even if G37 was faster, it would be by .1-.2 of a sec. And I just don't think that would be worth it. I think for a car to get a major change and not enough performance is the problem. For example, BMW changed there overall car (3series) and when you compare with the older model it's night and day. I am not asking for night and day, but I would of liked to be in the 13s at least. That's just me and all of this, is difference of opinions and one might thing G37 is fast or feels fast, but when I calculate $$$ vs Hp, it just does not add up.

I agree, it's faster in High Rpm, but in low rpm it's just not fast, it's slow!

Isn't there a 0-60 time of 5.3 for manual and 5.5 for automatic? Sucks that the G37 can't compete in performance compared to your modded G35. Now I want to see how well a TT G37 can do! My salesman even mentioned about it when I went to go see it that Infiniti left room in the front for things like TT and such. So they expect that some people will be modding the G37.

Thank you for your input though. 5.5 seconds is plenty of speed for me. I thought 5.8 seconds was fast (Lexus GS350) but now my new car will just be a tad, tad quicker.

Just to let you know, 0-60's isn't a great indication of a vehicle's overall acceleration. Too many variables to include.
