Looking for some info

So either imma swap my engine with a lower mileage one, install a new head or just sell it and move on

I'd rather keep it because it's mint and I've swapped an engine before so it's no big deal to me

I really need to know one thing though. Can you remove the awd engine just as easily as the rwd engine? I read some information over at Myg37 that said the awd motor cant be removed from the top due to clearance issues. Doesn't sound to right but wanted to confirm. Thanks.

I haven't had the pleasure of looking under the hood of an X in person, so I'm not much help. However, I know that the AWD cars have the front diff mounted next to the oil pan on the passenger side. I don't know you can remove the front diff whilst the engine is in the car.

Ahhhh your absolutely correct.

But if I split the trans and the engine I should be ok I'm thinking.

The front driveshaft goes THROUGH the oil pan on the AWD version, plan for removing it, iirc you just unbolt the flange on one side and pull off the axle on the opposite side. Sometimes bellhousing bolts are hard to get off if the front driveshaft is really close to them.

Thanks cleric! That's what I was hoping and you save the day again as usual lol. Iirc one side of the axle has 6 bolts to remove the half shaft and the other side is the usual pop out

I don't have any information to add with regards to dropping teh AWD motor, but wanted to provide some information on your next motor.

Try to find a 2015 motor from a Q50. it's a direct drop in, already has the new updated gallery gasket, has better headers, and heads (unconfirmed).
