Not to split hairs but the new Z4 M series has an inline 6. It is the current M3 engine minus 3 Hp because of the exhaust system design on the shorter wheelbase Z4 chassis. It is quite a piece though. Faster than a Boxster S in a straight line. I'd still take the Boxster S though. My old man just got an 06 Boxster S and it's a real honey. The new M3, however, is rumored to have a 400+hp V8. That will be a jewel if you ask me.Originally Posted by BroncoHound
+1...the g series is going to need something, especially with the z4 coupe coming with the M3 V8. that will be one quick little car. infiniti stands to not only fall off the competition wagon with the M3 and 300hp tt inline-6 3-series, but also the little roadster that could now in coupe form and sporting 2 more cylinders.

I had read somewhere a short while back that the Z4 M series coupe was to have the new V8 that is reportedly going into the M3 but I cannot seem to find it now. Perhaps it was a simple momentary lapse of reason...Originally Posted by newtlicious

It's like everytime anyone mentions the words Vette or M3, the lines are drawn! People always fail to forget there is a price difference and more then just sheer numbers. Anyways, like you said, it is a Chevy, no matter how you look at it: the interiors are just plain ... well plain and cheap looking at times. I don't like passing judgement on any cars until I've driven one so let's just leave it at the appearance for now. If we all wanted raw speed and so-so interior at around what we paid for the G35, we would have bought the w-sti or evo, but we choose exactly what you said, a luxury coupe that is still fun to drive.
Anyways, I'm already eyeing my next car as either a sports car (the Cayman or M3 perhaps) or a pure luxury car myself. Who knows, if there is a G45, maybe that car

That's my prediction as well. With the new 400hpCamaro and 425hp Dodge Hemi Challenger coupe coming out in 2008, I could see the need for a V8 coupe in Infiniti's lineup.Originally Posted by MrElussive

The M series Z4 roadster just came out and has the inline 6 from the current production 3 series based M3. The not yet released 2007 M3 coupe based on the 3 series is rumored to have a v-8. This engine may (hopefully) find it's way into a Z4M but the brand new Z4M is the I6 from the current 3 series based M3. The only V8 coupe offered by BMW at this time is the 6 series. No big deal. Again, I'm just splitting hairs.Originally Posted by BroncoHound

Good luck with Cayman! Either one is worth a kidney to me (hell, I've got 2 of them). It must be nice to have that kind of scratch. I'm enlisted Air Force so they're out of my reach for now. Someday......Originally Posted by mephistomyhero
