Is a tune required after installing a catback exhaust?
Hey Fam,
Im no mechanic and not too familiar with some technicalities of doing modifications to cars so I have a question. I just ordered a motordyne shockwave full catback exhaust and im curious if a tune is "recommended" or "required" once the exhaust is installed.
Im hoping that it wont be necessary as i would love to avoid paying another $700 or so on a tune.
Thanks for the feedback...

No need for a tune.
You don't really need a tune for test pipes either in the event you plan to do that also. Its best to at least have intakes, test pipes, and full exhaust for a tune to be worth it. Not saying you couldn't just get a tune when ever, even in stock form.

Depends on what your final goal is for the vehicle, typically you throw on all your mods at the same time then tune as an entire package. If you have other future mods but don't plan on getting them for a while then go ahead and get a tune, it's a pretty hefty upgrade getting the tune even on a stock engine.
Call the shop you are getting the tune (or email whoevever is doing your e-tune) and ask them how much subsequent flashes are. Typically once you've purchased the cable and software it's only like $125 or so for another tune in the future if you change equipment.
