Should I get a tune now?

So I have all bolt on mods except for a catback. I have the motordyne xyz y pipe and am wondering if I can tune now and get the catback later or if I should get the catback first and then tune.

Does the catback add any more gains than the xyz would have already gotten for me? I could have sworn that I read a thread where it says most of the power would be made right at the y pipe and the rest of the exhaust would mostly be for sound but I can't find it.

I know it would be suggested to get the rest of the exhaust setup first but I am impatient and want the tune now and just want to know how much rwhp I'm sacrificing...I'm thinking like 3-5. If that's the case then I am just going to get the tune. Anyone have any insight?

i would get a cat back so that way you can get the most out of your setup with your tune

Tune's aren't cheap.. shouldn't you wait until you get more mods onto the car before you do it? Because that doesn't seem like that much.

What is all you have? I'd wait for a tune. Unless you want to get it tuned twice

so you are saying you want a tune to regain 3-5 hp? it'll be $500 for an osiris tune.

Mrev2, spacer, hfc, ztube k/n, and xyz pipe.

My concern is with the y pipe going into the catback exhaust.

How much more would I gain pairing a catback to the xyz?

No I would only get the tune once. I meant if that is all I'm losing then I will get the tune now.

I'm asking about how much would the catback add onto my already existing y pipe. The untuned xyz dyno already shows gains and I'm wondering if adding the catback would yield anything over 5 hp. If not then I would get the tune now and just get the rest of the catback later for sound.

Just get the exhaust, then get the tune. The sooner your A/F is back to normal the better. I doubt you would gain much HP from just a cat-back but a tune will work best once all of the bolt-ons are installed.

OP, do you have the resonated XYZ pipe or straight pipe? How does it sound with the HFCs and stock mid pipe and muffler?

I have resonated. Compared to stock y pipe with hfc, it's quieter...lol But the exhaust note is smoother.

If you were to do over would you get the straight pipe or resonated? Did you seem to feel any power difference with the Y pipe over stock?

Depending on how long its going to be before you get the rest of your exhaust I'd say get the tune now, you'll see good gains from it, in addition to the fact that your car is most likely running very lean. If you get "retuned" in the future you don't have to pay the whole tune price again, its only an hourly dyno tuning fee, typically $150-180/hr, and it shouldn't take more than more hour to do. This is a dyno sheet from a friends car that just got tuned, the only mods he has is a Z-tube and axle-back exhaust and he's very glad he didn't wait to tune...
