I'm not sure because I haven't heard the straight pipe version myself, but I would probably still go resonated.
Seymore - you're convincing me to just get the tune. Do you know how much power a catback would add on top of the y pipe in the future?

The only place to get work done is Intec Racing in Kent WA, they do serious work on VQ's and stand behind it 100%. As a matter of fact there's 3 G35/350z's scheduled to dyno tune this week alone, Lawrence really knows his ****!

So austin is the best place then? I'm about to pull the trigger on a differential so that will kill my funds as I'm trying to get ready for the track this summer. The tune is being delayed for quite a while now ha. Would I be okay or would I be running too lean o_O
if you're not planning on getting a catback in the near future, i don't think you're going to miss out on much. For N/A, you will get gains from a tune, but it won't be more than 20hp if you're lucky.
We've seen the best results with the Greddy L7's, they're colder than stock and have a more consistent spark. You'll be fine even with OEM replacements, but will sacrifice a little bit of performance. If you're not getting the tune tho I wouldn't spend the $$. The biggest thing is to make sure that they are fresh before the tune; our cars are notorious for destroying plugs.
Uprev's headquarters is located in Austin, that is where you would be taking your car, if they can't tune it NO ONE can.
You won't gain so much "peak" horsepower, but with the syncing of the throttle (doesn't open 100% from the factory) and calibration of the A/F and timing you will gain a lot of usable and noticeable power throughout the powerband, very worth it. Unless you've got a completely open dif right now the tune will give you more benefit, IMO.
I have talked to over 20 people before and after their tunes at Intec Racing in Kent, every single person has come back with a huge smile and agreed that it was the most worthwhile mod they've done. I would also advise against tracking the car hard if you have breather mods/exhaust etc, I can almost guarantee you're running lean.
