Car won't start after storing it...

Its not a G35, but I didn't know where else to go with this question. Figured someone here might have encountered this problem before and could offer a suggestion.

My cousin had her 350z in storage for awhile (went out of the country for over a year), and her boyfriend said he took every precaution he could think of when he put it away. Things like unbolting the tires and rims, taking some air out, removing the battery, etc.

Well she came back into town and everything was bolted back up and the fluids were put into the car. The car didn't want to start up. Her boyfriend took the car to the dealership and it costed her about $600 to get whatever it was fixed. I'm not in the city anymore so I can't really help her out, but I'm curious to know what happend? Why would the car not want to start?

Dealership said the ECU had reset itself since the battery was unhooked for so long. Does this sound right?

she got ripped off. It happens when you let the car sit for a while, even a few weeks in the cold. gas gunk builds up in the bottom of the tank. with the ecu being reset it didn't know what to correct so it probably went into a precaution mode where the car wouldnt rev.. all it needed was some fuel cleaner.. prolly costs less than $10 and fresh gas.. she should def take it back to the dealer and demand a refund for being rip'd off.. i would go as far as threatening to call the better business bureau if the dont refund her for the correct amount

That's rediculous. You should post the invoice. I gotta believe there was more done than just resetting the ECU.

I'm back, and my cousin let her dipstick boyfriend do the same thing again to her car. I'm just waiting for her to come back and the idiot tell her "Oh hunny your car won't start up again. I don't know what is wrong"

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I can't get a straight answer from any Nissan dealership.

is the car been running when she first start the car from the dealership? how many miles did she put in the car after the dealer got the car started. coz i had dsame prop b4. i had a honda civic and the car dint run for 6months. i just have to clean the sparkplug and put some fresh gas, and i turn onthe car and let it run in idle for 2hrs so it will clean up some oil that got stock inside my piston, exhaust manifold etc. then it was working fine..

WTF???

all this is pure speculation. who the hell knows what happened.

could be the battery drained itself over the one year period? maybe it was something else. in either case, there's nothing you can do about it, so don't worry

well, my car is now dead, it wouldn't start, it has battery and there is gas in it. Not sure what's wrong, could be the starter thank God it's still under warranty, only 23K miles I'm pretty disapointed, maybe it's telling me to get rid of it before the warranty is up.
