I came out to my garage yesterday and discovered my G sitting there with the blinkers flashing faintly and rapidly. I tried to go start the car and the battery was dead. I then disconnected the battery and proceeded to charge the battery. Later in the evening I reconnected the battery and started the car. It seemed okay. Except that when I initially start the car when the engine is warm the engine dies. Once I get the car to idle by itself it maintains everything okay. Does anybody know if this is a simple thing such having to perform the reset procedures or something much worse? And does the flasher lights on have anything to do with the situation?

Thanks in advance,

Okay, I ended up taking the car to the dealership and their diagnosis was had had a bad air flow meter. Had to pay for the diagnostics, labor and MAF. All ended up being medium sized dollars. They said it was probably due to the JWT air filter setup with either not having enough oil on the filter or not enough oil to catch all of the dust. Anyways, mystery solved and my wallet is a lot lighter now than this morning.https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

You likely got screwed. I recently changed my spark plugs. In the process, I left my battery disconnected overnight. After I installed the plugs and restarted, I had the same problem you did. However, I remembered having the same issue with a different car after a dead battery. In that case, I called the dealer and they informed me that it sometimes happens after no battery for a few hours and that it usually regulates itself in a few days. It did. I let my G35 figure itself out for about 4-5 days and it idles perfectly and does not die when warm. I would be pissed at the dealership if you weren't under warranty.

Then I am pissed because it wasn't under warranty. I guess chalk this one up to lessons learned. I wonder how they forced it to idle again? When I brought it in it would not idle when warm and I had been driving it around for 3-4 days.
And then poof, all of a sudden they said they replaced the MAF and all was okay.

Thanks

Maybe they reset something that needed it. I really don't know. I just know that I had the EXACT issue and it went away. Just think about how I was feeling: I had just changed the plugs by myself for the first time and the car was dying right after starting when warm. Thankfully I had a similar experience before. Look at it this way: You got a new MAF and probably won't need another. Also, I am not a pro by any means, so maybe it was bad.

I have a similar issue.
Last time my car was in service, I was told my battery was going bad and that I needed a new battery. I went to Costco this evening and bought a battery.

These are the steps I followed in putting the battery in.

I removed negative terminal first and then the positive terminal. Took the old battery out and put the new one in. It was a tight fit, however managed to get it in there. I connected the positive terminal first and then the negative.

These are all steps from infiniti manual. I guess these were correct.

Once I was done with it and I started the car and drove around the block. I noticed some of my settings were missing, such as radio stations and the like. I reprogrammed them.

Once I was in the garage I turned the engine off and started again a couple of minutes later. The car started completely and it seemed it couldn't sit in idle and shut itself down. After a few attempts, this one time I gave it a little bit of gas and the it stayed on idle.

This is how it works for now. I'm afraid I cant go to work tomorrow relying on this.

What could be wrong for this behavior? Just as you guys said, will it reset or be fine in a couple of days or does it need a trip to the dealer?

Please help,

any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

PK

I wish I could help, but I took the chicken way out and went to the dealer. I am not sure if they dealer gave me a good story or not. For all I know they just needed to sell another MAF and they just reset my idle. I have always used this link to reset my engine.
