Creaking/Cracking noise from roof when pulling into my work parking lot

Ever since I've owned my G I've noticed this noise but just thought to post about it now. When I pull into my parking lot at work I hear a loud creak/cracking noise coming from the roof. I can only assume this is due to body roll as the entrance is slanted compared to the road so it torques on the car's frame. Has anyone else noticed this noise coming from their roof??

Mine does it too. I have all of the gt spec braces, sway bars, and strut bars and it still makes the sound

I would have figured all that bracing would have eliminated it. Weird.

take it to the dealer, they will tighten all the sun roof hardware. I did, and all is well.

I'll have to try that, but I'll do it myself. I definitely don't want to pay the dealer rate on that job.

Thanks for the info. I'm still under warranty so I'll bring it in.

The sound you're hearing is the creaking from the weather stripping around the moonroof. For me, an easy fix is to apply Meguiar's Vinyl and Rubber Protector. It's a spray you apply onto a paper towel and then wipe onto the weather stripping. Do this liberally; apply one coat, let it soak in, and do it again. Do this around the entire moonroof and it's almost 95% guaranteed you won't hear that creaking/groaning sound for at least 2 months. However, it does wear down depending on your climate conditions. I know 3M also makes a product for this but I forgot what it's called. Another expensive alternative is Gummi Pflege, popular with the BMW folks and I heard lasts longer. If you're still hearing the same amount of creaking noise after doing this, it's probably a hardware problem with your moonroof that needs tightening. Let us know how that works for you.

Tried the weather stripping trick and it still made the cracking noise. I brought it into the dealership this morning and got a call from them saying they can't work on it under warranty because my suspension is not stock. Phffff very lame....looks like I have to tighten it down my damn self or put my stock suspension back in.
