Great work - I hope this is the answer.
thanks alot man! i honestly feel like this may be the breakthrough. i cant say for sure, but in my case it fixed it and i have lifted a ton of bricks off my shoulders. i purchased this car back in october of last year and the dealer told me upon delivery, " sometimes you have to pump the gas really slow for it to fill because of the angle of the filler neck." i thought nothing of it and drove 4 hours back home. went to fill the tank that week and was so frustrated. it would take me a good 25-30 mins to get a full tank along with a cramped hand and frozen nose(northeast winter months)

my car actually sat for about the last 4 months, only driven about once a week to and from work(2 miles) b/c i was so upset about the fuel filling issue. luckily i had another vehice to drive. but it still pissed me off to no end that i was making car payments and insurance payments on a car that i couldnt even drive.

you honestly dont know how excited i was to have found the problem. its a great feeling and i just wanted to share my findings with everyone here incase the issue ever comes about.

A little off topic but since at least one or two of you in here may know, is it really needed to remove the rear suspension assy to drop the fuel tank in an 04 coupe? That sounds like a major pain just to replace the fuel level sending unit. Looking at it I can't see a reason it would be in the way but I haven't taken anything apart yet.

matt,
if you are only replacing the sending units, the tank does not need to be dropped. simply hop in the back seat and lift up on it from the front edge, it will come right up. then you will see two grey colored plates, turn the 4 tabs in the direction of the arrow to unlock. under those will be your sending units. there are (6) 8mm phillips head bolts holding them in. im sure you can take it from there.good luck!
