have there been any UPDATES on our gask tank issues yet?
i know its been beaten to death but since the warm weather has been peeping its head, my tank has again been giving me issues with re-fueling. i was just curious if anyone had heard anything new on this issue or if anyone was brave enough to come up with fix themselves?
ive been on E for the past 3 days and im pushing my luck. car wont take any fuel again. im thinking of dropping the tank at work tomorrow and attempting to resolve this once and for all.

according to our service manual, there is a fill level valve that is in the tank and is non-replaceable. imo, that can really be the only other culprit. but just as tech line said, the tank will need to be replaced. just shy of 400.00 at employee pricing.

Here is the Service Bulletin # for the shutter Valve, I just looked it up and it applies to 03-05 G35 sedans and Coupes.
# ITB05-031
2003-2005 G35 AND FX; FUEL TANK DIFFICULT TO FILL AT TIMES
APPLIED VEHICLE(S): 2003-2005 G35 (V35) and (CV35)
2003-2005 FX (S50)
OOps I was posting this before I read the above. There is also another Service Bulletin for a different fix on the tank, I was just looking at it a minute ago.

well i bit the bullet and put a tank in like techline suggested, still no luck. ive tested the evap system, vent control valve, canister, pressure sensor.... all working. new tank is in and still wont take. i tried pulling off the vent hoses right at the tank and still no luck. i called techline back to tell them that the tank had not fixed it and they said they would have to call me back b/c they didnt have any ideas at the moment.

so after countless headaches and numerous calls with infiniti/nissan tech line, after all the hours spent looking at the fsm and and all the time ive wasted and my co-workers have wasted, i finally found my issue. seeing as i had replaced and checked every single piece of the evap and fuel system except the filler neck, i decided to remove it and just take a glance. all looked well so i went over to the sink and filled it up with water and water dumped right back out. i knew that couldnt possibly be the problem. so i think to myself, "the issue must lie between the neck and the tank." all that is between the two is an 18 inch piece of rubber that goes above the subframe... ah what the hell. so i pull it down and take that over to the sink, fill it with water and what do you know? it doesnt pass through! i tried to fish a coathanger through, nothing. so i cut the hose open and find that the hose has a bladder liner inside that has collapsed. not visable from the outside but once i cut it open you can clearly see the blockage that was causing the pump to click off. what kills me is that this hose has been checked over and over and over and each time, overlooked. only b/c we were testing it with air pressure every time. the air would pass through and push the collapsed wall to the side, but it would not allow any liquid to pass by.

Man, if you have discovered the cause of this vexing problem you are our HERO! This is BIG! The part is simply called the "fuel filler hose" in the service manual. Interestingly, there was a recall of this very part in late '05 due to possible cracking caused by "exposure to ozone"...
Great work - I hope this is the answer.
