recently, a strange tapping or clicking noise occurs when i turn on my air conditioning . the noice seems to be coming from the passenger air vent near the center console. i only hear it when i have the a/c on and with the "air circulation button" pressed. it goes away when i press the "fresh air button", but comes back every time when i press the "air circulation button".
it's really annoying.....

i have 04 g35c.

the car is still under warranty so i plan to take it to the dealership next week. but just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

 

Hi. I'm having exactly the same problem and I already scheduled an appointment to have that checked. Did you get yours fixed and if yes what was causing the noise. and did the waranty cover it??

 

turns out, the cabin micro air fiter was not properly installed when i had it replaced.
yes it was fixed under warranty, however i had to pay for a diagnostic check....

 

I have the same, but it’s now 2021, tapping/clicking noise occurs when my air conditioning us on and it only makes the noise when I engage the in cabin "air circulation button.” It goes away when I press the "fresh air button", but comes back every time when the "air circulation button" is engaged. Can anyone verify that is probably my Air Flap Actuator? It a 2004 G35 Coupe

 

Probably something stuck behind the cabin air filter, remove the filter and find out what's making the flap stick.

On mine it ended up being the positive battery terminal plastic cap fell off and down onto the filter and flap.

It's VERY easy to remove the cabin air filter, just takes a #2 phillips screwdriver iirc.
