AC turns off at high speed
AC turns off at high speed
I have noticed that when i get on the highway or on a country road going about 60 MPH my AC will start blowing warm air. I live in Houston and its been 100+ everyday for a while now and its getting annoying. It blows ice cold at idle and when i start accelerating, im not sure if it happens when I hit 6th gear or if its a MPH thing. I will repost when i have some time to test it out...any ideas?
I bet it is low on freon. As the RPMs climb, you'll increase the pressure difference between the low side and high side. Most A/C systems have a sensor to detect low refrigerant levels and cut the compressor to prevent it from burning up. This used to happen in my old corolla so that's the experience I have with this type of thing.
Q45tech, u sure the compressor clutch will disengage over 4,000 rpms? To the OP, how about reving the motor in park with the AC on instead of putting it in gear. Same response?
Edit, nevermind about the compressor clutch disengaging. A quick google search showed that this is very common for newer card to cut the compressor at certain RPM threshold / throttle input.
