Annoying sound in rear
How can I tell if my rear differential or wheel bearing is causing a LOUD PULSATING HUMMING NOISE??? I replaced the rear passenger wheel bearing about a year ago. I think the noise is coming from the rear driver side this time. There is no movement in the wheels when I raise the car. I think it's too loud to be the rear differential.
UPDATE: REPLACED REAR WHEEL BEARING AND THE NOISE STOPPED
Thanks,
Aaron

I don't think so, the sound is really loud and I think a brake issue would cause a lighter, scraping type of noise. I start to hear the "jet engine" noise after about 40 mph and is louder than my exhaust on the highway.

My tires are new and the alignment is perfect. I'm pretty sure the noise is coming from the rear driver side...likely the wheel bearing.
I guess I'm asking if the rear differentials cause A LOT of noise?

It could be your brakes.
I had that humming sound going ~50 mph on the highway.
Turns out my caliper was seized up and the brake pads were oddly worn.
Took it to the stealership and they replaced it no charge under extended warranty.

It sounds like the noise is from the driver's side rear wheel. I switched the rear tires and the noise still sounds like it's coming from the driver's side rear wheel.
