I have a 2004 g35 x and the AWD light keeps flashing / blinking

starts when i drive about 10 mins or so


i recently put on rims which are wider tires

245 front
275 back


I got my tires re balanced and still same problem, whats wrong

 

I would def. start by swapping back to the other set of rims to see if thats causeing the issue. May be if the diameter of the tire is bigger then stock the computers calibration doesnt match and throws the light on. After that you gotta get someone with electrical diagnostic skills to look at it.

 

Don't think staggered wheels are recommended for AWDs

 

What are full tire specs. and rim sizes?

 

All 4 wheels need to be rotating at the EXACT same speed... put your stockers back on & try it .

It's probably your staggered tire setup. Just try swapping back to your stock setup and I bet it goes away. Then sell those tires and run the same size tires all around and you'll be fine more than likely.

 

Tires must be same size bro.. I have the g35x and staggered rims.. Ur good as long as ur tires are same size.. Good luck!

 

Tires need to be the same DIAMETER. That's the key. Use this calculator when determining the diameter of your tires. I currently run 18 x 8.5" wheels front, 18 x 9.5" wheels rear with 215/45 18's up front and 245/40 18's in the rear and have no problems. Those diameters put me within 1/10th of a percent difference from front to back. Hopefully that helps.

Do your homework on staggered tires, you can run them but they have to be an exactly size.

I'm staggered =P

 

What's the full tire size?

You need to make sure the tires are the same OUTSIDE DIAMETER otherwise the AWD system will error and the light flashes.

If this is the case, you need to swap tire sizes around so the front and rear diameters are the same. Really no way around this with the AWD models.

 

Flashing AWD means T case temp is high beyond threshold. Bad things. Change your T case fluid too...

 

I have the same problem but my tires changed from 225/55R17 to 235/35R20 in the front and 255/35R20 in the back which didn't seem to be much of a difference. The back tires are .3 bigger than stock and front ones are .2 smaller so a total of .5 difference in total. Could this be the same problem for me or should i just try by getting the fluid changed?

 

Going off memory, but if I remember, the FSM states tire diameters needs to be off by no more than 0.1".

So 1/2" difference is pretty significant. You need to get your tire sizes pretty much exact in size. AWD is pretty sensitive to this.
