Clearing codes resetting ecu?

I'm aware of the pedal sequence to reset the ecu, but was wondering if clearing fault codes with an obd scanner actually resets the ecu, or if it simply just clears fault codes?

Thanks!

actually, to correct what mike said, obd2 reset does reset the ecu completely. with the obd 2 diag tool it, after you choose to erase, all the drive cycles in memory and you must drive the car for 30 or so miles before sensors such as o2, egr, etc complete it's cycles again. whether you use the obd2 tool or do it manually, it does the same thing, resets the ecu.
