Possible resetting of the CC sans stereo

Hi,
I didn't really know what section to post this and my search keywords aren't helping, so thought I'd take a shot in the dark.
I pulled my stereo ( usual '03 sedan stereo/CC issue) and plan to put in an Avic D3. My thought was if I can reset the Climate Control since the stereo is gone. My understanding was that the stereo was the real issue.
I'm sure there's something I'm missing, but I'm still on the CC defaults. I tried pulling fuses but I guess that's not gonna do it either. If there's no way around it I can deal, but if there's a magic trick I'm missing, thought I'd ask.

Also, when I do do the D3 install will the CC come back to life? Just thought of that. Thanks.

So, you have no radio currently in the car, and you're trying to get the climate control to work?

Yeah, basically. I took it out bc it fried like a lot of 03 sedans, hoping the CC would reset, plus it has to be replaced one way or the other anyway. And the CC was never the problem until the stereo kicked for good, so I assume the stereo's the problem. Plus hearing the same issue with other 03-04 owners.

That's the most common problem. However, I've seen the climate control system inop due to a failed radio/cc circuit board, and also because of a faulty/fried AC auto amp (which is actually the display unit of the climate control system).

With that being said, there is no way that your climate control will work without the radio installed. Unless you pick up the necessary conversion parts required when installing aftermarket audio units, you're not going to get it to reset or work.

Okay, thanks. Just hoping for a magic bullet until I get the Avic. Most likely it will function properly after I do the install tho? assuming I get all the appropriate parts.

As long as the functionality issue of your climate control was due to the factory radio unit, then yes, it all should work...provided you set-up everything properly with your new unit...

Yes. I know there are posts on here about installing the Avic ( a double DIN navi in any case) and so I plan to follow them step by step anyway. I was just worried when the CC didn't reset this time, if it wouldn't when I drop 700+ into it.
