2004 G35 MT ECU compatibility question.

2004 g35 manual coupe.
My mechanic thinks my ecu is fried so I'm helping him search for a used one. I was wondering what other year g35 ecu's can I use? I've found some 05-07 ecu but don't know if these are flashable to run on my vehicle.

2005 Part Number 23710-CM41A
2006 Part Number 23710-CM41C
2007 Part Number 23710-CF91A

Having different part numbers, I would guess they are not compatible, but I am not 100%. The 41C could just be an updated version of the 41A.

You definitely don't want an ecu from a revup car..stuff will be different. Shouldn't be too hard to find an 03/04 MT ecu on ebay.

I found an ECU that came off an identical car as mine, 2004 6-speed coupe, but their ecu model number doesn't match with mine.
Mine: Mec35-262 a2 7v22
Theirs: Mec35-261 a1 4708
Do you guys think it'll work?

OP you're kind of a tricky situation in that the 2003 models don't have wideband support so they won't work, and the 2005 models have the revup engine so they won't work... you have to have an ECU from another 2004 6MT.

Once you find one you will also have to either reflash it with Uprev to disable NATS, or have the dealer reprogram it for about $250 or the car will not start.

Feel free to PM me if you've got any questions about this

Thanks Seymore! I would've gotten one off an 03 if I hadn't known.

What does the letter code mean? I too am in the same situation. But my G is a 2003. So if I find one with the same letter code it should work?
I have a 2003 G35 coupe 6MT

Yes it should work. I replaced my burnt ecu with another with the same letter code and it worked. I was initially worried about the other numbers being different but it wasn't a problem.

Raising this from the dead. So after replacing my ecu to the one I mentioned above, my obd port isn't working. How I found out was when trying to do a smog test. The smog technician obd scanner couldn't communicate with my ecu. He even tried 2 different scanners, including an expensive Snap-on scanner, and they all couldn't communicate with the ecu. He tried to diagnose my car by triggering a a check engine light. He pulled some sensors and it successfully triggered the check engine light. The technician then assumed that my new ecu isn't 100% compatible and that I should go repair my original ecu. I don't want to repair my ecu if it's not guaranteed to fix the obd port. I'm thinking that something else screwed with my obd port. I've changed out my IPDM and I've also removed my stock radio and installed a double din stereo. Maybe along the line I might have spliced a crucial wire? Both of my cigarette lighters are working. My clock also works even though the time lags behind after a few weeks and I have to re-adjust it. Other than my IPDM and stereo, I haven't done anything else to my car. Can someone please have an answer that might suggest the issue?

Here's my ECU information if it helps:
My original ECU Code: Mec35-262 a2 7v22
Replacement ECU Code: Mec35-261 a1 4708
