Thumbs up Advice on a 03 G35 coupe I looked at today with interior light function problems

Hi I am very new to the G35 woorld and in the market to buy one. Now here is where my electrical tech question comes. Went looked at a 2003 auto g35 coupe with 50k miles today, test drove it, gave the car a really good inspections. Gave it a vigorous test drive and everything thing felt and operated like it should. But then I noticed the interior lights would not go on . Tried the switch , opened and closed the doors and nothing. Checked bulbs etc and so on. Still nothing. The owner said it never happen and he was sure it was something he could take care of. So we left it at that and I told him to calle when he figured it out. An hour later got a text with the interior lights on, told me he read online that just disconnections the neg battery cable waiting and reconnection fit would fix it and he said it did . So I was all set to buy the car tommorow. Then did a little research and found out it is prolly the body control module.

So I ask, is the BCM shot or could this be an intermitten thing and should not be a concern and just buy the car. As G35 owners you guys would know the best . So looking for advice. Thanks in advance.

Two alternative solutions.

Door switch is bad. Did you see a "door ajar" red light on in the dash cluster? Or hear a chime? Or see a warning on the NAVI if equipped?

Other solution is the selector switch on the roof is faulty and the contacts are stuck to ON.

Granted, this car isn't even yours, so hard to even troubleshoot.
